The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Nursing, University of Baghdad, held an extensive meeting in the Continuing Education Hall to discuss and endorse its annual operational roadmap for the 2026–2027 academic year, attended by unit coordinators and academic guidance committee members from various scientific departments.
The meeting primarily aimed to formulate a comprehensive guidance framework aligned with the start of the new academic year, identify strategic priorities for delivering psychological, academic, and social support to students across all study stages, and design targeted programs to foster university adaptation, including structured orientation strategies to mentor incoming freshmen toward academic and professional excellence.
Discussions addressed several core pillars, focusing on refining monitoring and follow-up mechanisms for cases requiring specialized support and confidential consultations, activating both individual and group counseling sessions, and organizing periodic educational workshops and seminars on mental health, academic stress management, and interpersonal communication skills tailored for nursing students to positively influence their cognitive achievement and clinical training.
The meeting concluded with a series of actionable recommendations and executive measures, prominently featuring enhanced coordination between academic advisors and scientific departments, the modernization of counseling forms and records in accordance with strict confidentiality and professional standards, and the launch of interactive initiatives to promote mutual collaboration, active citizenship, and professional ethics across the campus community.
The objectives of this counseling plan align closely with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) advanced by the College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad—particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 4 (Quality Education)—by establishing a supportive, empowering educational atmosphere that ensures students’ psychological stability and nurtures clinically and mentally competent nursing professionals dedicated to community service.
