The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit organized a specialized awareness workshop for first-year students entitled “University Student Behavior” as part of Psychological Counseling Week. The workshop was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Iyad Majid Musa, Head of the Nursing Fundamentals Department, and was attended by a group of new students.
The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of university behavior as one of the fundamental pillars of student success, explaining that it includes all behaviors inside the classroom and laboratories and when interacting with colleagues and professors, and reflects the level of awareness and responsibility. The workshop addressed key topics, including adherence to university rules and behaviors such as regular attendance, classroom etiquette such as active listening and respecting the right to participate, and proper behavior in laboratories by following instructions and maintaining equipment
It also focused on building positive relationships with colleagues based on cooperation and mutual appreciation, and professional communication methods with professors, emphasizing that positive university behavior contributes to enhancing students’ self-confidence and supporting their ability to manage their academic tasks efficiently, and plays a role in promoting general discipline and improving the quality of the educational environment. At the end of the workshop, the floor was opened for students to ask questions about behavioral issues. The students showed remarkable interaction and eagerness to understand proper university behavior and its direct impact on academic success
This awareness workshop is part of the College of Nursing’s commitment to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, directly supporting Goal 4 (Quality Education) by working to provide a positive and disciplined educational environment that ensures quality education and equal learning opportunities for all. Promoting responsible behavior and building positive relationships also contributes to building a cohesive university community, which is consistent with Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), by promoting the mental and social health of students
