The Faculty of Nursing at Baghdad University received a special honor from the Minister in recognition of its pioneering efforts in spreading the culture of volunteering and enhancing the spirit of initiative and cooperation among students in community service. The student Nour Al-Huda Imad from the Community Health Branch of the College received a letter of thanks and appreciation in recognition of her outstanding efforts in volunteer work. The attendees praised the ample and continuous support provided by the deanship of the college to complete these voluntary activities and achieve leadership and excellence.
His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, stressed in his speech that “Voluntary work represents one of the main pillars in building the personality of the conscious university student, and embodies the real interaction between the university and society through humanitarian and developmental projects that contribute to the consolidation of the values of citizenship and social responsibility.”
For his part, the President of Baghdad University, Prof. Bahauddin Ansaf Mubarak, expressed his pride in this honor, saying: “We congratulate the Department of Student Activities and our dear students for this distinction, which reflects an honorable image of the university and its role in serving the community. Voluntary work is an important tributary in honing students’ skills and developing their leadership and social abilities in addition to their scientific achievement, praising the efforts of volunteer teams that embodied the spirit of cooperation and belonging inside and outside the university.”
It is noteworthy that promoting the values of voluntary work among universities and students is an essential pillar for achieving sustainable development goals, especially those related to building inclusive societies, ensuring quality education, and promoting effective partnerships for development, as this honor contributes to stimulating the efforts of universities to direct their energies towards serving society in a sustainable and effective manner
