The college of Nursing at Baghdad University discussed the doctoral thesis entitled “The effectiveness of an educational program in improving parents’ management of their children with hemophilia” by Kawthar Wadah Kazim, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Raad Karim Faraj, in the college’s Great Hall.
The thesis aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of an educational program designed to improve the way parents manage and care for their children with hemophilia. The most pronounced improvement was seen in most areas of knowledge, including factor replacement therapy, emergency preparedness and symptom recognition, and psychosocial support.
The thesis concluded that structured educational programs significantly enhance parents’ knowledge and competence in managing the care of their children with hemophilia. Therefore, it recommended that targeted interventions should be implemented to enhance the practical skills and preventive behaviors of fathers.
This research thesis is directly aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being. By improving parents’ ability to manage the care of their children with hemophilia, these educational programs contribute to increasing the quality of life for these children and their families. This type of health research also promotes universal health care and equal access to treatment and knowledge, supporting the principle of building healthier and more resilient communities in the face of chronic health challenges.
