The Student Activities Division, in collaboration with the Media and Government Communications Division at the College of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized a large-scale blood drive for the Iraqi National Blood Bank, which saw a high turnout of faculty, staff, and students within the college

The campaign aimed to boost the bank’s supply of various blood types to save the lives of patients and the injured, and to instill a culture of volunteerism and humanitarianism among the college’s students as part of their future professional roles, in addition to providing direct support for emergency cases, thalassemia patients, and major surgical procedures.

The Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Wissam Jabbar Qasim, emphasized that this campaign is a living embodiment of the social role undertaken by the College of Nursing and an expression of its ethical and professional commitment to the people of Iraqi society, noting that the college does not merely prepare nurses academically but also seeks to instill the values of generosity and altruism in them so that the university may serve as a beacon of knowledge and humanitarian work alike

For his part, the head of the Student Activities Division, Prof. Dr. Aaid Sabah, noted that the campaign is part of the annual plan for extracurricular activities focused on direct engagement with community needs. He praised the high level of organization and the great awareness demonstrated by the donors, which contributed to collecting blood units that will save lives

This initiative seeks to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 on good health and well-being through support for the health system, and Goal 17 on partnerships to achieve the goals through effective cooperation between the academic institution and national health institutions
