The Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Mental Health Nursing Department at the College of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized a specialized awareness workshop titled “How to Deal with Anxiety and Stress as a Nursing Student: Practical Strategies for Coping with Psychological Stress.” The workshop was presented by Instructor Ahmed Qaisar Jassim and Assistant Instructor Zahra Abdul Karim Abdul Amir, attended by a group of college students in Lecture Hall No. 5, with the aim of highlighting students’ mental health as a fundamental pillar of their academic and professional success
The workshop aimed to introduce participants to the concepts of anxiety and stress and the underlying causes, particularly among nursing students, with a focus on the impact of academic and clinical pressures on mental well-being. The workshop also provided students with a set of practical strategies for managing stress and enhancing time management and study organization skills, thereby contributing to improved performance in both academic and clinical settings and fostering a supportive and encouraging learning environment.
The workshop concluded with a series of important recommendations emphasizing that anxiety and stress are natural responses that can be controlled and channeled positively through the adoption of healthy strategies. The recommendations stressed the importance of developing coping skills and psychological resilience, along with the need to strike a careful balance between academic demands and overall well-being. The workshop also encouraged students to view seeking psychological support when needed as a positive and courageous step that enhances their future professional stability
This event is part of a series of activities organized by the Continuing Education Unit through which the college seeks to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 on good health and well-being by promoting psychological safety, and Goal 4 on quality education by creating a learning environment that places great emphasis on students’ psychological and educational development.
