The Continuing Education Unit at the University of Baghdad’s College of Nursing organized a specialized workshop titled “Step-by-Step Guide to Writing Research Titles for Publication in Reputable Nursing Journals” presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Hussein Alak from the Fundamentals of Nursing Department. Held at the college’s Grand Hall, the event attracted a wide audience of faculty members and postgraduate students across various academic levels including Diploma, Master’s, and Doctoral programs.
The workshop aimed to enhance the proficiency of researchers in formulating precise and compelling titles that increase discoverability and citation rates while raising the probability of acceptance in Q1-ranked nursing journals. Participants were introduced to the keys of a successful title and the fundamental principles that grant scientific research distinction while avoiding common pitfalls in research phrasing. Furthermore, the session reviewed essential skills for selecting nursing titles based on empirical evidence from the most globally cited articles to enable attendees to align their research content with journal expectations and contemporary scientific priorities.
At its conclusion, the workshop issued a series of core recommendations calling for increased awareness of the importance of simplicity in titles and their ability to reflect research objectives profoundly. It encouraged researchers to monitor modern studies to utilize contemporary keywords instead of redundant or outdated terminology. The recommendations also stressed the necessity of fostering collaboration between students, supervisors, and specialized colleagues to choose refined formulations and to invest sufficient time in producing an attractive title that enhances research visibility in international forums and improves its chances of successful publication in global peer-reviewed journals.
The organization of this workshop falls within the activities of the Continuing Education Unit aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education). By elevating the level of academic knowledge and enhancing the quality of scientific research and specialized expertise for students and faculty, the college contributes to building a solid foundation for international scientific publishing that serves the nursing profession and the academic community at large.
