The College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad organized a memorial gathering and a moment of silence on the painful anniversary of the martyrdom of the Leader of the Women of the Worlds, Lady Fatima Al-Zahra (peace be upon her). The event was attended by the Dean of the College, the Associate Deans for Scientific and Administrative Affairs, alongside a large gathering of department heads, faculty members, staff, and students.
The event commenced with the recitation of Surat Al-Fatiha in honor of the pure soul of Al-Siddiqa (the Truthful) and the righteous martyrs of Iraq. This was followed by speeches and commemorative remarks highlighting the fragrant biography of Lady Al-Zahra (peace be upon her), emphasizing the noble human and spiritual values, sacrifice, and devotion she embodied, while recalling her pioneering role and revered stature in Islamic history.
During the gathering, participants underscored the importance of following her blessed path, drawing valuable lessons from her life, and reinforcing the moral and professional principles she advocated in delivering humanitarian service—particularly in the fields of nursing and healthcare.
This initiative comes as part of the College Deanship’s ongoing commitment to commemorating religious and historical occasions, fostering spiritual and ethical values, and enhancing educational and human solidarity among the college community.
