The College of Nursing at Baghdad University defended the doctoral thesis titled: “Effectiveness of a lifestyle counseling program for older adults to prevent colorectal cancer”. The study aimed to determine the level of effectiveness of a counseling program designed to prevent colorectal cancer in the elderly population, under the supervision of Prof. Hussein Hadi Attia, in the college’s Continuing Education Hall
The results of the research showed that the effectiveness of the program was significant, as it led to positive changes in the participants’ life behaviors, including improving dietary patterns, increasing daily activities, improving health monitoring, and reducing stress and tension. The researcher emphasized that these changes are directly reflected in the reduction of cancer risk
This thesis is a qualitative addition to the scientific library, and contributes directly to achieving the third goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (good health and well-being) by focusing on preventing non-communicable diseases (colorectal cancer) and promoting the mental and physical health of the elderly. The study opens prospects for the implementation of practical and effective guidance programs in health institutions to support this global goal
