The College of Nursing organized an educational awareness campaign entitled the effect of passive smoking on pregnant women in some women’s hospitals in Baghdad.
The campaign aimed to educate pregnant women coming to the consulting clinic for maternal and fetal care about the health harms of smoking and its impact on the mother and fetus. On the impact of women’s passive smoking on the respiratory system causing lung cancer, asthma, fetal deformities and weak immunity.
The educational awareness campaign included the distribution of printed folders that dealt with the negative impact of smoking and the complications resulting from it, its negative impact on the health of the mother and the fetus, and the complications resulting from it, including cardiovascular and arterial diseases, lung cancer, asthma, congenital fetal malformations and weak immunity.
The awareness campaign recommended the need to avoid smoking of all kinds because of its serious health harms to women and the fetus, and an uncivilized phenomenon among women
