Through its joint research sessions, the conference seeks to strengthen the role of undergraduate student research as a fundamental pillar in supporting the goals of sustainable healthcare, and to link research outcomes to the actual health needs of society, as well as bridging the gap between the academic and practical realms to build connections between students’ theoretical and practical research and the real-world challenges faced by healthcare institutions, thereby supporting the healthcare system. It also aims to create a positive competitive environment that motivates students toward innovation and research excellence by honoring the best participating scientific research, while promoting a culture of scientific research and reinforcing its importance as a fundamental skill in evidence-based and innovative nursing practice.
The research submissions from nursing colleges in Iraq were distinguished by their strong focus on the development dimension, as the research outputs and scientific posters aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3—Good Health and Well-being—as students presented innovative nursing and field-based solutions that contribute to improving the quality of healthcare in hospitals and specialized centers, supporting patient well-being, and promoting community health awareness, as well as Goal 4—Quality Education—by establishing a project-based learning methodology, fostering research innovation, and integrating scientific perspectives among Iraqi universities, thereby ensuring that the skills of future nursing staff are honed in accordance with international standards and evidence-based nursing.
The opening session concluded with a tour led by the university president, the dean of the college, and the guests to view the research projects on display, amid widespread praise for the scientific and intellectual caliber demonstrated by the student researchers from various nursing colleges in Iraq, which reflects a genuine commitment to improving the efficiency of the health sector through sustainable scientific research.
