The Fundamentals of Nursing Branch at the College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad organized a field visit to Ibn Al-Quff Hospital, under the supervision of Dr.
The visit aimed to develop students’ clinical and scientific knowledge and practices about nursing care for patients with spinal cord injuries.
The visit included a field tour in the hospital’s surgical wards, the men’s and women’s wards, in addition to the rehabilitation and physiotherapy unit. The students taught the patients rehabilitation exercises for the injured limbs and the mechanism for applying them correctly, which in turn contributes to restoring the injured limb to its normal function and applying these exercises daily at home without the need To direct supervision by the medical staff, in addition to providing health advice and instructions to patients and their companions to adhere to daily exercises, which improve the return of the injured party to its normal function and reduce the severity of the injury.
At the end of the visit, the patients in the hospital halls expressed their thanks and gratitude to the students and supervisors for the nursing and health procedures that were performed for them and the medical advice on exercises and healthy food, which in turn enhances the efficiency of the immune system and the body in restoring its normal functions.
