The Fundamentals of Nursing Branch at the College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad organized a health awareness campaign for students of Zarqa Al-Yamamah Mixed School / Rusafa Education Department in Ragheba Khatoon area.
The campaign aimed to educate students about healthy food to maintain the health of the immune system, which in turn immunizes the body against infection from diseases.
The health awareness campaign included its axes, the most important of which is encouraging students to eat healthy food rich in fruits and vegetables, emphasizing the importance of the main nutrients, the percentage of the main nutritional components required to build the body, the amount of food calories for each substance, which contributes to building the body and strengthening the immune system, and the importance of vitamins, mineral elements and antioxidants, which in turn fight infectious germs from it.Viruses, bacteria and fungi bacilli, as well as unhealthy eating habits that weaken the body’s immune system, which in turn enhance the body’s response to disease, including fast food, canned food, sweets, candies, carbonated drinks and energy drinks, which in turn add the human immune system, which increases the virulence factor of germs to invade the body as a result of weak immune system as a result of eating habits, unhealthy lifestyle and lack of exercise on a daily basis. Where printed health awareness leaflets were distributed to students about the importance of healthy food, which in turn promotes building the body, strengthening the immune system and protecting the body from disease.
At the end of the visit, the school administration and the students of the school expressed their thanks and gratitude to the professors of the Fundamentals of Nursing Branch about health awareness, brochures, and explanatory drawings about healthy food and encouraging them to avoid unhealthy eating habits and their commitment to eating healthy foods and practicing sports, which in turn enhances human immunity and immunizes him from disease.
