As part of efforts to promote health awareness and foster a culture of prevention within the university and the community, Prof. Dr. Hawra Hussein Gafel, a faculty member at the College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad,  co-presented an awareness seminar titled “Facing Breast Cancer,” which was held at the College of Education for Girls at the University of Baghdad and attended by a group of faculty members, staff, and students.

The seminar included valuable scientific discussions and explanations addressing breast cancer and its associated risk factors, as well as a review of the most prominent symptoms and warning signs, modern diagnostic methods, and current treatment approaches. The seminar also emphasized the critical importance of self-examination and early detection in increasing recovery rates and reducing complications from the disease.

Assistant Professors Dr. Kawakib Najmuddin Abdullah and Dr. Noura Adel, both faculty members at the College of Biotechnology at Al-Nahrain University, co-presented the scientific sessions of the seminar.

This participation underscores the role of the College of Nursing and its faculty in strengthening scientific and community cooperation and in promoting the concepts of preventive medicine and public health, thereby contributing to women’s empowerment and the adoption of informed health practices, and helping to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being; Goal 4: Quality Education; and Goal 5: Gender Equality).
