The Faculty of Nursing at Baghdad University discussed the Diploma Capstone tagged) Advance Approach in Nursing Management for Patients with Diabetic Ketoacidosis in Critical Care Units (for the student Zahraa Jaleel Hamza.

 

The aim of the study is to improve nurse’s ability to manage the care of a hospitalized patient diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis using evidence based practices.

The letter also included the the evidence – based approaches of diabetic ketoacidosis revealed the important of therapeutic strategy for improving the outcomes and critical care for nurses towards adult hyperglycemic patients with diabetes type one and type two, especially old ages and patients with chronic diseases in order to be able to protect them from complications of diabetic ketoacidosis in the intensive care unit. Daily physical examination and evaluation to identify the symptoms and maintain the patient with diabetic ketoacidosis in critical care unit also the patient may require extra organ support in addition to the treatment with insulin and fluids, such as breathing to manage the acidosis, depending on the severity of the diabetic ketoacidosis.

The most important recommendations reached by the study: developed the best practices and approaches in nursing management via continuous evaluation of nurses knowledge which is essential to identify nurses needs and factors affecting their performance in critical care units as   well as empower them to be effective agents of change , as they strive to optimize the diabetic ketoacidosis received by patients in intensive care unit, and the estimate that the researcher got privilege.
