In line with strengthening national academic partnerships and fostering knowledge integration between federal and Kurdistan Region universities, the College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad has signed a joint scientific and research cooperation memorandum with the Shekhan Technical College of Health and Medical Sciences, affiliated with Duhok Polytechnic University.
The signing ceremony took place at the Deanship of the College of Nursing. The memorandum was signed on behalf of the College of Nursing by its Dean, Professor Dr. Wissam Jabbar Qasim, and on behalf of the Shekhan Technical College of Health and Medical Sciences by its Dean, Assistant Professor Dr. Beezaw Naji Rasheed, in the presence of a distinguished group of associate deans, department heads, and faculty members from both sides.
The memorandum outlines a long-term strategic partnership, moving beyond traditional coordination to establish an integrated working framework. This framework focuses on implementing joint research and applied projects that address urgent health priorities and exchanging teaching expertise and specialized staff. It also opens broad horizons for utilizing advanced infrastructure and laboratories at both institutions, updating curricula in line with international academic accreditation standards, coordinating joint training and clinical application programs for undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as organizing joint conferences, seminars, and workshops to enhance the national health system.
Professor Dr. Wissam Jabbar Qasim stated: “The signing of this memorandum represents a fundamental step in building bridges of knowledge communication between Baghdad and Duhok. It reflects the college’s relentless efforts to unify research endeavors to serve the health sector and supply it with qualified personnel possessing the skill and competence needed to meet the demands of the medical and applied fields.”
This partnership aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, primarily Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by contributing to the quality of healthcare, Goal 4 (Quality Education) through elevating academic standards and clinical training, and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering integration and collaboration among university institutions across the country.
