The College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad discussed a Master’s thesis entitled “The Impact of Care Burden on Quality of Life, Psychological Well-being, and Resilience Among Family Caregivers of Cancer Patients,” presented by the researcher Eman Haider Hamza, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Mohammed Majeed, in the college’s Museum Hall.
The study aimed to assess the burden of care among family caregivers of cancer patients, evaluate their quality of life, psychological well-being, and family resilience, as well as determine the relationship between care burden and each of these variables among caregivers.
The thesis concluded that there is a statistically significant relationship between care burden and quality of life among family caregivers of cancer patients, as well as a statistically significant relationship between care burden and psychological well-being, while the results showed no statistically significant relationship between care burden and family resilience.
The study recommended conducting future longitudinal studies to track changes in care burden among family caregivers over time, identifying protective factors that may contribute to reducing their care burden, and exploring the educational, social, cultural, and economic factors associated with the caregivers’ quality of life and psychological well-being.
At the conclusion of the defense, the researcher received an “Excellent” grade. This academic activity aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals that the College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad strives to achieve, particularly Goal 3: “Good Health and Well-being.”
