The Student Activities Division at the College of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized a table tennis tournament for faculty members, with broad participation from the college’s professors, who competed in an atmosphere marked by camaraderie and a strong spirit of sportsmanship. The final matches resulted in Professor Ahmed Qaisar winning first place after an outstanding performance that reflected his high skill and good competitive spirit.
The tournament aimed to strengthen social and fraternal bonds among faculty members away from the pressures of academic work, as well as to promote a culture of sports as an essential part of a healthy lifestyle on campus and to enhance the physical and mental well-being of the participants. The Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Wissam Jabbar Qasim, noted that this type of tournament represents a cornerstone of the college’s strategy to create a motivating and balanced work environment, noting that sports activities are no less important than academic ones, as they help recharge energy, strengthen cooperation, and foster a spirit of teamwork among faculty members, which positively impacts institutional performance.
This tournament achieves the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), by encouraging physical activities that ensure the safety of body and mind, and Goal 4 (Quality Education) by providing a supportive and inclusive educational environment that addresses the psychological and physical well-being of educational staff, thereby contributing to the creation of an integrated and healthy university community
