As part of the ongoing field activities organized by the Faculty of Nursing to enhance clinical skills, the Maternal and Child Nursing Department organized a scientific field visit to the Oncology Hospital in Medical City, with the participation of the department’s teaching staff and third-year students from both the morning and evening programs.

The visit aimed to place students at the heart of the advanced therapeutic environment, where they learned about the latest medical technologies used in the rapid chemotherapy wards, including the use of the “Chemoport” device and other advanced methods, as well as learning about blood transfusion mechanisms and protocols for dealing with critical cases. The students also had the opportunity to meet directly with a number of patients with breast and uterine cancer, enabling them to observe the course of treatment and connect the theoretical information in their curricula with practical reality.

This visit reflects the college’s clear commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, as it directly contributes to Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), which aims to reduce premature mortality from non-communicable diseases such as cancer by training nursing staff specialized in women’s health and gynecological tumors. The visit also promotes Goal 4 (Quality Education) by providing advanced technical and vocational education that bridges the gap between the classroom and the health job market.

At the end of the tour, which included comprehensive scientific explanations about the side effects of chemotherapy and how to manage them, the professors and students expressed their thanks and appreciation to the university nursing staff at the hospital, recognizing their great efforts in caring for patients and their active role in transferring practical experience to the new generation of nurses.
