The Faculty of Nursing at Baghdad University discussed the doctoral thesis  tagged (Efficacy of Health Belief Model on Older Adult’s Physical Activity at Geriatric Care Home in Baghdad City: A Randomized Controlled Trial) for the student Ahmed Mahdi Niama.

 

The aim of the study is to determine the efficacy of the health belief model on older adults’ physical activity at a geriatric care home in Baghdad city

The letter also included the thesis to: The results of this study depict that there were a significant improvement among experimental group participant’s beliefs among all concepts of the health belief model related to physical activity over time. This study concluded that the health belief model-based health intervention enhanced participants’ perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, cues to action, self-efficacy, and physical activity. On the other hand, it minimized the perceived barriers.

 

The most important recommendations reached by the study: recommends the need to conduct future studies based on the HBM on a large number of Iraqis with the goal of enhancing their physical activity behaviors, especially older adults. In addition, it is necessary for the Ministry of Work and Social Affairs and Baghdad. And the estimate that the researcher got privilege.
