Prof. Dr. Muhammad Baqir al-Jabouri, a faculty member at the College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad, served as co-advisor for a master’s thesis titled: “Exploring Collaboration Between Health Professions (Pharmacists and Nurses) to Achieve Safer Medication Practices: A Mixed-Methods Study in Iraq,” by student Zainab Hilal Abdul-Kazim at the College of Pharmacy, University of Baghdad.
The study aimed to explore ways to enhance collaborative and integrative work between nursing and pharmacy staff in healthcare institutions, and to utilize a mixed-methods approach to analyze field challenges and develop safe medication practice protocols that contribute to reducing medication errors and improving the quality of care provided to patients.
This joint research collaboration is part of the College of Nursing’s commitment to strengthening scientific and academic partnerships among various medical disciplines and specialties, thereby achieving interdisciplinary integration and directly contributing to the improvement of health services and the safety of Iraqi society.
This scientific output also reflects the University of Baghdad’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, foremost among them Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by strengthening medication safety standards and reducing treatment risks, Goal 4 (Quality Education) by encouraging interdisciplinary academic research and developing researchers’ skills, as well as Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering integrated academic and professional collaboration to serve the national health system.
