Assistant Professor Dr. Zaid Wahid Ajel, a faculty member at the College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad, participated in the “Fifth International Conference on Pediatric Cardiology,” organized by the Mercy Organization for Children’s Health (NGO – Iraq) at Qaywan International University in Sulaymaniyah Governorate, in collaboration with a select group of reputable medical and academic institutions, from September 16 to 17, 2026.
The aim of the participation was to strengthen joint scientific and medical cooperation, keep abreast of the latest clinical developments and diagnostic and therapeutic protocols related to pediatric cardiology, and exchange specialized expertise with researchers and physicians from various health and academic institutions both within and outside Iraq.
This participation is part of the active engagement of the College of Nursing’s faculty in prestigious scientific forums and conferences, as well as their academic and research contributions to the development of critical care nursing and pediatrics, and the strengthening of partnerships between nursing colleges and specialized organizations.
The conference’s proceedings also align with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by supporting specialized medical and nursing interventions to reduce child mortality, Goal 4 (Quality Education) through continuing professional development and specialized education, and Goal 17 (Partnerships
to Achieve the Goals) by integrating academic and field efforts to serve children’s health in Iraq.
