The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Nursing, University of Baghdad, in collaboration with the Pediatric Nursing Department, organized a specialized workshop titled: “Writing Online News Articles and Publishing Them on the College Website,” presented by Assistant Professor Mustafa Wajih Hussein and Assistant Professor Karar Haider Hatf. The workshop was attended by faculty members and staff of the college and took place in the Continuing Education Hall.
The workshop aimed to develop the skills of academic and administrative staff in the field of journalistic and media editing, to equip participants with the basic rules for writing university news professionally and objectively, and to familiarize them with the policies and guidelines for publication on the college’s official website, as well as enhancing mechanisms for selecting compelling headlines and highlighting academic achievements and distinctive activities in line with modern digital media standards.
In its conclusions, the workshop emphasized the need to adhere to technical and linguistic standards in preparing press reports to consolidate the college’s media identity, along with the importance of activating direct coordination channels between departments, divisions, units, and the website administration to ensure the rapid flow and updating of news, as well as recommending the continuation of training courses supporting digital transformation and electronic archiving, thereby contributing to strengthening the college’s digital presence within recognized global and local rankings.
This workshop aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, foremost among them Goal 4 (Quality Education) by enhancing staff competence and developing their professional skills, Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by utilizing digital technologies and modernizing the infrastructure for electronic publishing, as well as Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by promoting integrated work and constructive cooperation between administrative and academic units within the educational institution.
