The Fundamentals of Nursing Department, in collaboration with the Student Activities Division and the Academic Affairs Division at the College of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized the Grand Holy Quran Competition to select the “College Reciter,” with broad participation from students, faculty, and staff who recited verses from the Holy Quran in a distinctive atmosphere of faith and education. The competition aimed to nurture Quranic talent within the university community and encourage students to uphold the Islamic values and noble ethics prescribed by the Holy Quran, as well as to enhance participants’ skills in correct recitation and mastery of the rules of recitation and tajweed. Through these activities, the college also seeks to create a balance between academic excellence and spiritual and emotional growth, which contributes to building a well-rounded student personality capable of humanitarian service in the nursing profession, rooted in the values of compassion and service.
This competition achieves the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 on quality education by supporting extracurricular activities that develop intellectual and cultural capacities, and Goal 16, which aims to promote peaceful and inclusive societies by fostering a culture of tolerance, coexistence, and the noble human values found in the Quran, thereby positively impacting social cohesion on campus and in society at large.
