The college of Nursing at the University of Baghdad discussed the doctoral thesis entitled “The effectiveness of the educational program for mothers’ readiness about the discharge plan for children with leukemia” by researcher Ola Adnan Latif under the supervision of Khitam Mushtar Hattab in the college’s Great Hall.
The thesis aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of an educational program designed to increase the readiness of mothers to receive their children with leukemia at home after their discharge from the hospital.
The results of the study showed a significant improvement in the level of readiness of mothers who participated in the educational program, compared to the other group that did not receive the program. The study confirmed that this educational intervention significantly enhanced the mothers’ readiness to continue caring for their children after discharge.
The study recommended the implementation of ongoing educational programs to improve mothers’ readiness and awareness of how to deal with leukemia after children are discharged from the hospital. The researcher received a grade of “Very Good” for her thesis.
This study is integrated with the Sustainable Development Goals, especially the third goal: Good Health and Well-being. By empowering mothers and providing them with the necessary knowledge about caring for their children with leukemia, this study contributes to enhancing the quality of health care and minimizing potential complications after discharge. This not only supports the health of the child, but also alleviates psychological stress on the mother and family, and enhances their overall well-being, aligning with sustainable development efforts to achieve a healthy life and well-being for all.
