The Pediatric Nursing Department at the College of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized a large-scale tree-planting campaign in the college’s gardens with the active participation of faculty members, staff, and undergraduate and graduate students, who joined forces to plant a variety of trees and saplings to increase green space on campus
The campaign aimed to improve the college’s aesthetic appeal and create a healthy learning environment that helps cool the atmosphere and reduce pollution, while instilling the values of volunteerism and environmental responsibility in students and faculty.
This initiative embodies the college’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 on good health and well-being through the provision of a clean environment, Goal 11, which focuses on building sustainable cities and communities, and Goal 13, which addresses climate action by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and expanding green spaces. This reflects the role of academic institutions in protecting the planet and ensuring a better future for coming generations
