Assistant Professor Dr. Aysen Kamal Mohammed Nouri, from the Community Health Nursing Department at the Faculty of Nursing, University of Baghdad, participated in the Annual Conference on Combating Drugs, held under the slogan: “Towards a Drug-Free Society: Building Hope Through Science and Cooperation” at the Medical City Hospital.
The conference reviewed the achievements of the Supreme National Commission for Drug Affairs, including the quantities of substancesseized and destroyed, as well as presenting success stories of recovering addicts and organizing an awareness-raising photo exhibition. It also highlighted pioneering projects such as the opening of an addiction center in Baghdad and a documentary film about destruction campaigns in the provinces of Baghdad, Najaf, and Basra
At the conclusion of the conference, the Minister of Health affirmed the Ministry’s efforts to open specialized addiction centers, while Mr. Ashraf Al-Dahan stressed the need to mobilize energies and national and regional cooperation to face this great challenge.
This participation confirms the Faculty of Nursing’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 4 (Quality Education) through health awareness, and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through effective cooperation with government and community institutions to combat this scourge and consolidate the faculty’s role as a key partner in development.
