The University Psychological Counseling Unit at the College of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized a specialized awareness worksho titled “Tools for Success in Clinical Training,” presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Iyad Majid Musa, Head of the Fundamentals of Nursing Department, with the participation of Professor Dr. Raja Ibrahim Abdul and attended by a group of first-year students

The workshop primarily aimed to introduce students to the practices and skills that enable them to achieve success during their clinical training while enhancing their readiness to transition from theory to practical application within healthcare institutions, Dr. Iyad Majid explained that excellence in this area is not limited to academic knowledge alone but requires behavioral discipline, high precision, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and the healthcare team, while fully adhering to professional ethics and safety standards. Meanwhile, Dr. Raja Ibrahim emphasized the importance of psychological preparedness and the role of continuous guidance in building students’ self-confidence within the complex clinical environment.
The workshop addressed integrated themes, including the necessity of adhering to professional appearance and discipline, and developing observation and critical thinking skills in various clinical situations, in addition to focusing on the application of safety and infection control procedures, the importance of accurate documentation of nursing procedures, and the necessity of utilizing feedback to foster continuous professional development. They emphasized that clinical training is the cornerstone of preparing competent nurses, thereby contributing to improving the quality of future healthcare delivery.
The workshop concluded with a lively discussion session where students were invited to ask questions about the challenges they anticipate in the healthcare work environment; participants demonstrated significant engagement and a clear interest in developing their skills. The workshop concluded that possessing clinical tools and skills is the true guarantee for enhancing students’ competence in their future professional practice and building a nursing professional capable of handling work pressures with professionalism and competence.
This workshop aims to advance Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by preparing qualified nursing professionals capable of providing high-quality healthcare.
