The Faculty of Nursing hosted a high-level meeting chaired by Prof. Dr. Wissam Jabbar Qasim, Chairman of the Committee of Deans of Nursing Faculties in Iraqi Universities, attended by the deans of the faculties and the President of the Iraqi Nursing Association, Mr. Firas Al-Mousawi. in a strategic move aimed at unifying visions between academic circles and the professional union sector. The meeting reviewed ways to update training curricula and develop the clinical skills of nursing staff in line with rapidly changing field requirements, with a focus on supporting specialized fields that ensure graduates are empowered as leaders and innovators within the national health system
The meeting featured extensive discussions on the pivotal role of nursing education in supporting Iraq’s vision for sustainable development, with participants emphasizing that advancing the profession is the cornerstone of ensuring the well-being of society and improving the quality of health services by preparing a generation of nurses who combine social responsibility with a high capacity for efficient and continuous health crisis management

In this context, Prof. Dr. Wissam Jabbar Qasim stated: “We, the Deans’ Committee, are committed to adopting international quality standards that ensure the sustainability of human resources in the health sector. Our strategic goal is to transform nursing colleges into centers of scientific and research excellence that provide the state with an integrated health system, thereby guaranteeing the rights of future generations to advanced healthcare that balances technological modernity with universal human values.” The meeting concluded with an emphasis on continuing field coordination and joint visits to develop the educational and professional environment in all Iraqi nursing colleges
