The Fundamentals of Nursing Branch at Baghdad University College of Nursing organized a field visit for professional diploma students to Baghdad Health Department – Karkh / Ibn Al-Bitar Specialized Center for Cardiac Surgery, the visit was supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Mohammed Majeed, Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Fleih Hassan, and Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Hussein Alak

The visit aimed to enhance the knowledge and application capabilities of students in the field of critical care nursing. It focused on enabling students to acquire the necessary skills to accurately distinguish between different medical conditions, make a proper diagnosis, and provide optimal medical and nursing intervention to preserve patients’ lives and minimize potential complications. They were also introduced to the type and quality of medical and surgical care and treatments provided to cardiac patients.

The visit program included an extensive field tour of the hospital’s vital departments, especially the intensive care unit and the cardiac resuscitation unit. The tour provided a real opportunity for students to see the workflow in these departments and interact directly with the medical and nursing staff.

This educational initiative comes within the framework of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically the fourth goal: Through these visits, the college seeks to provide students with the knowledge and skills that qualify them to be leaders in healthcare, which directly serves community development and enhances the quality of health services.
