The Faculty of Nursing at Baghdad University discussed the master’s thesis tagged(Efficacy of a Transtheoretical Model of Change-Based Stage-Matched Intervention in Changing the Hookah Smoking Behavior of High School Male Students ) for the student Doria Sobhi Ramadan.
The aim of the study is to evaluate Efficacy of a Transtheoretical Model of Change-Based Stage-Matched Intervention in Changing the Hookah Smoking Behavior of High School Male Students .
The letter also included the thesis: to the study results revealed that more than two-fifth of subjects in the study group were in the Precontemplation Stages of Change, followed by those who were in the Contemplation, and those in the Preparation Stage of Change. The administered intervention made subjects use more Processes of Change, enhanced their Self-Efficacy and Decisional Balance of hookah smoking cessation.
The most important recommendations reached by the study: Future research needs to consider other variables that interfere with hookah smoking including nicotine dependence, amount of smoking, and craving for smoking. School administrations and staff are required to collaborate with parents with the goal of following students up in terms of unhealthy behaviors including hookah smoking.
