The University Psychological Counseling Unit at the College of Nursing, University of Baghdad, held its first meeting for liaison members for the academic year 2025/2026, with the aim of discussing and approving the annual plan for counseling activities and strengthening psychological and educational mechanisms within the college to ensure effective and comprehensive support for students. The meeting focused on emphasizing the need to familiarize students with the unit by establishing clear guidance indicators and clarifying the role of the educational counselor based on the university psychological counseling guide. The members discussed the importance of preparing an annual guidance plan in line with the university psychological guidance strategy, reviewing the tasks of the educational counselor and the potential challenges that may face the implementation of these activities.

Recommendations included emphasizing the implementation of the directives issued by the Educational and Psychological Research Center at the University of Baghdad (No. 15/9/2025 in 322), as well as discussing the mechanism for dealing with activities that arise outside the plan and the need for effective coordination with the scientific branches in the college. Members also discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation with other units, such as the Continuing Education Unit, the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit, and the Women’s Affairs Unit, to ensure the integrated implementation of the annual plan.

This meeting comes within the framework of the University Counseling Unit’s efforts to enhance psychological and educational support for students, which directly serves the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 4 (Quality Education). Creating a safe and supportive academic environment that promotes mental health directly contributes to improving academic performance and graduating university cadres capable of making an effective and sustainable contribution to the labor market and society, thereby ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
