The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Nursing at Baghdad University organized a workshop entitled “The Harms of Smoking in the Age of Technology”. The workshop was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Raad Karim Faraj, and was attended by a group of) The workshop aimed to spread awareness campaigns about the harms of smoking, encourage smoking cessation, preserve public health, increase awareness of the dangers of smoking in schools, and highlight how to use social media to reveal and raise awareness of the dangers of smoking.
The workshop concluded with a number of recommendations, most notably intensifying awareness campaigns on the dangers of smoking, following up on the role of the school researcher in detecting cases of smoking among students and raising their awareness, and enhancing the awareness of teachers and schools on how to deal with the issue of smoking and reduce this phenomenon.
This workshop is directly aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), which focuses on ensuring that everyone enjoys healthy lifestyles and promotes well-being for all at all ages. By educating students about the dangers of smoking, the College of Nursing contributes to building a more health-conscious generation capable of making decisions that serve their long-term health, promoting community health sustainability and reducing the burden of smoking-related diseases on the healthcare system.
