The Faculty of Nursing at the University of Baghdad held, on Sunday, 3/8/2025, a solemic mourning stand to commemorate the painful anniversary of the genocide to which the Yazidi component was subjected by the gangs of Da’a. Terrorist.
The vigil began with the reading of Surat Al-Fatihah on the souls of the martyrs who fell victim to this heinous crime, in the presence of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Wissam Jabbar, the Assistant Dean for Practical Affairs, Prof. Dr. Zahid Jassim Mohammed, and a group of members of the teaching and administrative bodies, in the College’s Continuing Education Hall.
Prof. Dr. Wissam Jabbar, Dean of the College, said in strongly condemning this crime, stressing that it has nothing to do with the values of the true Islamic religion and human ethics. Dr. Wissam also affirmed the full solidarity of the college with the Yazidi component, which is considered an essential part of the Iraqi social fabric, stressing the importance of consolidating a culture of peaceful coexistence and respect for diversity among all components of the Iraqi people.
This vigil comes within the commitment of the College of Nursing to the Sustainable Development Goals, especially the sixteenth goal of peace, justice and strong institutions. Through these events, the College seeks to promote the values of peace and justice, and build a more inclusive and tolerant society, which contributes to achieving a better future for all the people of the country.
