The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized an important workshop addressing the topic of “The Impact of Autoimmunity on Endometriosis.” The lecture was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Wessam Jumaa Mohammed and Lecturer Dr. Sunan Thair Abdul Wahab, in the Continuing Education Hall at the college.
The workshop aimed to: clarify the complex relationship between autoimmune disorders and the development of endometriosis; review the latest research and studies related to the immune mechanisms involved in the onset and progression of this disease; discuss modern approaches in diagnosing and managing cases of endometriosis with a focus on immunological aspects; and enhance the knowledge of nursing staff about the importance of a deep understanding of immunological factors to improve the care provided to patients.
The workshop concluded with a set of recommendations aimed at encouraging more research and studies on the precise role of autoimmunity in endometriosis; including immunological aspects in the diagnostic and therapeutic protocols followed for cases of endometriosis; organizing specialized training courses and workshops to update the information of healthcare professionals on the latest developments in this field; and raising awareness among women about the importance of early detection of endometriosis symptoms and the importance of consulting specialists.
This specialized workshop comes within the ambitious plan of the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Nursing, which seeks to provide the latest developments and knowledge in the health and nursing fields. This workshop achieves the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, by promoting knowledge and understanding of an important women’s health condition and the impact of immunological factors on it, thereby contributing to the improvement of healthcare for women.
