The Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Unit at the University of Baghdad’s College of Nursing organized a workshop titled “The Psychological Effects of Drug Addiction.” The lecture was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Raad Karim Faraj and Ms. Worood Mohammed Abd, and attended by a group of undergraduate students in Hall No. 4 at the college.

The workshop aimed to educate students about the consequences of drug addiction and its impact on various physical and psychological aspects of individuals. It also addressed the societal risks and repercussions of this phenomenon, particularly among youth, as well as the strategic methods and approaches used to prevent its spread in the community.

The workshop concluded with a set of important recommendations, highlighting the necessity of continuous education and guidance for students to prevent such issues from occurring. Additionally, it emphasized the importance of continuous monitoring and legal regulations by the state to curb the spread of drugs, and encouraged students to attend similar seminars to learn about the severe harms of drug abuse.

This workshop is part of a series of scientific workshops organized by the College of Nursing to educate students and community members about the dangers of drug abuse among society members and its impact on human health, as well as its negative effects on families and society. This workshop contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being.
