Reducing inequalities and ensuring that no one is left behind is an integral part of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Inequality within and among countries remains a constant cause for concern. Although there are some positive signs of progress toward reducing inequality in certain areas—such as the narrowing of relative income inequality in some countries and the provision of benefits to low-income countries through preferential trade—inequality persists.
