Introduction to the Department:
The Basic Medical Sciences Department in the College of Nursing, like other colleges with medical specializations, is specialized in teaching subjects in various basic sciences, in order to build a solid scientific base for the students of the College. During the first and second academic year, various scientific subjects are taught in the Department, which include anatomy and histology, biochemistry, nutrition science, microbiology (1,2), pathophysiology, and pharmacology.
Department vision:
The future visions of the basic sciences branch include:
1- To bring the student’s knowledge to a degree of possibility so that he can link the different sciences to each other in the service of nursing and health sciences.
2- Keeping abreast of scientific and technological progress in using the latest medical technologies in conducting examinations and analytical tests in diagnosing various diseases and methods of treatment.
3- Enhancing the student’s confidence to take responsibility and increase his awareness in developing the ability to analyze and give a scientific and logical explanation of the pathological cases he encounters in all health institutions.
4- Looking to establish scientific links locally and globally between college students, universities and other health institutions.
Department Mission:
The Basic Sciences branch represents the basic building block for students of the College of Nursing, as it is relied upon to enable the student to study and understand the various basic medical sciences in which the branch is interested and fall within its duties.
Department objectives:
The Department aims to establish a solid scientific base for college students in the branch’s various specializations. In addition to introducing students to basic medical sciences, which constitute a basic base for him for the purpose of studying nursing, as well as introducing students to the necessary laboratory tests, and thus / increasing their scientific ability to provide nursing care in a better way.
