- Core functions of the Council Formulating recommendations and decisions: This council arranges appropriate recommendations agreed upon by the majority of its members, so that they can be submitted to the university presidency to obtain the necessary approvals for their implementation and adoption in accordance with ministerial and university laws and regulations. Problem solving and decision making: The council is the most important platform for discussing the challenges facing the college and making appropriate recommendations or decisions after obtaining the approval of the members. Coordination with the university council: The college council receives the agenda and minutes of each session of the university council. It directs the faculty assistants to take the necessary measures regarding its paragraphs and circulate its directives to all members of the Faculty Council, so that they can circulate them to the members of each scientific department.

♦ Minutes of the first session
The first session of the Nursing Faculty Council held on Wednesday Chaired by the Dean of the Faculty 2025/9/17 (Prof. Wissam Jabbar Qasim) Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and attended by the members of the Council
Honoring Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Baqir Habib (former head of the Community Health Department) in recognition of his outstanding efforts and contributions to the department and the college.
The Council hosted media officer Mustafa Wajih to talk about the college’s website, the most important developments on the site, the Indico system for scientific activities, and how to electronically enter activities on the site.
Meeting approvals
- Agencies 2025/2026 Approval of deferral requests submitted by graduate students for the purpose of deferring the academic year
- Noor Ahmed Mohammed Khalifa (Master’s student) Maternal and neonatal nursing for health reasons, as she is pregnant and there are complications that threaten the safety of her pregnancy and the safety of the fetus.
- Nazim Qasr Hussein (PhD student) Pediatric nursing Due to compelling family circumstances that prevented him from traveling from his province of Dhi Qar to Baghdad, which caused him family problems.
- Approval of exam results for the second round of preliminary exams for the first and secon semesters of the 2024/2025 academic year
- Approval to transfer the student to a similar major at our college, as per the letter from Kirkuk University/Graduate Studies Department/ Student Affairs Division, regarding the case of master’s student Abbas Ahmed Kazim Abdul-Razzaq, Faculty of Nursing, University of Kirkuk, who wishes to transfer on 11/9/2025 in 3/7/13288 his studies to a similar specialty at the Faculty of Nursing, University of Baghdad. The second session of the Nursing Faculty Council was held on Wednesday Chaired by the Dean of the Faculty October 8, 2025 (Prof. Wissam Jabbar Qasim), Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, in the presence of the Council members.
Honoring Assistant Professor Dr. Iman Hussein Alwan (former head of the Mental Health Branch) and Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Hussein Marza (former head of the Basic Sciences Branch) in recognition of their outstanding efforts and contributions to the branch and the college.
Minutes of the meeting
• Approval of the request submitted by the master’s degree student (Hassan Nahil Mahmoud Aziz) accepted at to approve his transfer to the Faculty of Nursing/University of Mosul 2026/ 2025 at his own expense for the academic year due to his very difficult financial circumstances, as his wife is also a graduate student at her own expense at the University of Mosul, his father is deceased, and his mother is ill. He was surprised by the high cost of living in Baghdad, where he cannot afford to pay expenses in Baghdad and Mosul and lives in rented accommodation in Mosul
• Approval of the research plan on the minutes of the scientific branches regarding the research plan for each branch
• Approval of the vision, mission, and objectives of the college and all scientific branches, divisions, and units
• Approval of the Bologna curriculum
• Approval of the representatives of the stages and the representative of all stages to attend the college council meeting
• Approval of the research topics for graduate students (master’s, doctorate)
• Approval of the request submitted by the diploma student (Naseem Rahim Ghazban) to postpone the academic year due to his health conditions and social circumstances 2025/2026

The second session of the Nursing Faculty Council held on Thursday, the Faculty Chaired by the Dean 2025/10/30 (Prof. Wissam Jabbar Qasim) Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and in the presence of the Council members
The council hosted the student representative (student Mustafa Ali Hussein) to convey the students’ issues and problems, discuss graduation ceremonies, and set dates for the official photo.

• Approval to change the name of the newly established master’s program (Critical Care Nursing) instead of (Critical Care Nursing), noting that the name of the study program under the title (Critical Care Nursing) was approved by the Nursing College Council and ratified by the University Council Secretariat under No. 13/1/2025, Seventh Session, dated 28/1/2025, dated 730/22
