Holistic Nursing Journal (HNJ) The Holistic Nursing Journal (HNJ) is a prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific platform published by the College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad. The journal is dedicated to advancing the nursing profession and developing the comprehensive healthcare system through the publication of high-impact original research and innovative clinical studies.

Publication Instructions

Publication Guidelines for the Holistic Nursing Journal (HNJ)

    1. Scope of Publication: The Holistic Nursing Journal is dedicated to publishing original scientific research and articles across various nursing specialties.

    2. Peer-Review Process: All submitted research papers and articles undergo a peer-review evaluation by specialists from both inside and outside Iraq to ensure the quality and rigor of their scientific content.

    3. Originality: Papers that have been previously published or accepted for publication elsewhere will not be accepted.

    4. Language and Style: Articles must demonstrate clarity, precision, and linguistic integrity in both Arabic and English, strictly adhering to standard grammatical rules.

    5. Language of Submission: Research may be submitted in either Arabic or English. It must include an abstract in both languages, with each abstract not exceeding 200–250 words.

    6. Page Layout and Formatting: Submissions must be formatted on A4 paper with double spacing and 2.5 cm margins on all sides. The total length of the paper, including tables and figures, must not exceed 10 pages.

    7. Typography and Copies: Authors must submit three hard copies printed using Microsoft Office Word (2019 edition or later). The font type must be Arabic Transparent, formatted as follows:

      • Main Text, Tables, Figures, and References: Font size 12.

      • Authors’ Names: Font size 14.

      • Abstract and Keywords: Font size 10.

      • Line Spacing: 1 cm (Single spacing).

    8. Author Information: The names of the authors, their academic affiliations, phone numbers, email addresses, and the title of the research must be provided in both Arabic and English.

    9. Final Submission: Once accepted, and after incorporating all modifications suggested by the reviewers, the final paper must be submitted in a single digital copy on a CD.

    10. Structure of the Manuscript: The research paper must be organized in the following sequence:

      • Title

      • Author’s Name(s)

      • Abstract (Including: Objective, Methodology, Results, and Recommendations).

      • Abstract in the second language (Including: Introduction, Methodology/Objective, Results, and Recommendations).

      • Keywords (3–5 relevant keywords in both Arabic and English following the abstract, starting with a bold, lowercase letter).

      • Introduction

      • Objective

      • Methodology

      • Results

      • Discussion

      • Recommendations

      • References

    11. Column Layout: The Introduction, Methodology, Discussion, and Recommendations sections must be formatted in a two-column layout per page.

    12. Tables and Figures: Tables and figures must be numbered sequentially and provided with titles placed at the top. Explanatory notes must be placed at the bottom and cited correspondingly within the text.

    13. Citation Style: References must follow the APA 7th edition style. The total number of references must not exceed 20, and it is highly preferred that they are published within the seven years prior to the submission date.

    14. In-text Citations: In-text citations must be indicated numerically and enclosed as footnotes at the bottom of the page (*).

    15. Return Policy: Submitted manuscripts will not be returned to the authors, even if they are rejected for publication.

    16. Publication Fees (Domestic): Authors must pay a publication fee of 100,000 IQD (One Hundred Thousand Iraqi Dinars) to the journal’s accounts unit to cover publication expenses.

    17. Publication Fees (International): Authors applying from outside Iraq must pay a publication fee of 100 USD (One Hundred US Dollars) upon receiving acceptance.

    18. Table Abbreviations: Explanatory notes for any abbreviations used within tables must be added directly beneath each respective table.

    19. Plagiarism Check: Prior to specialist peer-review, all articles are subjected to plagiarism screening using “Turnitin” software. The journal requires that the overall similarity index does not exceed 15%, and consecutive literal text plagiarism must not exceed 2%.

    20. Ethical Considerations: The Methodology section must include a dedicated paragraph addressing ethical considerations. It must explicitly outline how official approvals were obtained for all research samples, aligning with applicable laws to protect the rights of both the researcher and the participants.

    21. Corresponding Author: The Corresponding Author must be clearly identified in the footnote of the first page of the manuscript.

    22. Numbering Format: For research written in Arabic, Western Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3…) must be used uniformly across all sections requiring numbers.

    23. Funding and Acknowledgments: Authors are required to disclose any national or international entities, agencies, or institutions that supported the research by funding the project.
