Leadership in supporting and publishing original nursing research, by enhancing the status of the Iraqi National Journal of Nursing Specialties as a reliable scientific source, and working to index it within prestigious international repositories such as Scopus, which contributes to highlighting the role of the College of Nursing/University of Baghdad as a leading academic and research institution nationally and regionally.
Unity message
The Journal and Scientific Support Unit seeks to advance scientific research in the field of nursing by issuing a peer-reviewed scientific journal that meets international standards for academic publishing, and providing the necessary support for researchers, faculty and students in the field of scientific publication and documentation, while adhering to research ethics and sober standards, in order to enhance the quality of education and community service.
Unit goals
1. Developing the Iraqi National Journal of Nursing Specialties in terms of content and format to qualify it for indexing in international databases such as Scopus.
2. Providing technical and scientific support to researchers in preparing, coordinating and publishing research according to international academic standards.
3. Publish peer-reviewed scientific research in various nursing specialties, and enhance the college’s contribution to applied scientific knowledge.
4. Commitment to the highest ethical standards in scientific research, arbitration and publication. Organizing workshops and training courses in the fields of academic writing, scientific publishing methods, and international indexing mechanisms.
5. Encouraging applied research that serves the community and improves the nursing profession in Iraq.
6. Building strategic partnerships with Arab and international scientific journals and bodies to enhance the exchange of experiences and expand the scope of publication.
7. Establishing an archiving and digitization system that ensures open and free access to scientific content.
The role and achievements of the unit
The Journal and Scientific Support Unit is one of the active units in the College of Nursing at Baghdad University, where it plays a pivotal role in supporting and developing research activity and raising the level of scientific publication inside and outside the college. The unit has sought to consolidate the culture of scientific research and enhance the college’s presence in the academic arena through a set of specific tasks and achievements. The most important roles and achievements Indexing the Iraqi National Journal of Nursing Specialties within the Crossref organization, and giving each published research a DOI number, which contributes to ensuring international documentation of research and raising the level of citation. Improving the technical and administrative structure of the journal in line with the requirements of international repositories, and actively working towards its inclusion in databases such as Scopus and DOAJ. Issuing regular issues of the Iraqi National Journal of Nursing Specialties, and ensuring the quality of research published in it by applying a rigorous and confidential scientific arbitration system. Supporting faculty and student researchers in the areas of preparing research for publication and providing academic counseling services regarding scientific writing and documentation. Organizing training courses and workshops on scientific publishing mechanisms, research ethics, and journal indexing standards. Developing an electronic system to archive journal issues and provide open access to published research, thus enhancing the principle of transparency and easy access to scientific knowledge. Coordinating with the Quality Assurance Unit and the scientific research divisions in the college to achieve institutional integration that supports the development of research and scientific publishing.
