Peace be upon you, and God’s mercy and blessings.

It is my pleasure and honor to stand among you today, in our prestigious academic institution, the College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad, which was founded in 1962 and has since become a beacon of science and knowledge, and a factory for nursing cadres who serve our country and society with dedication and sincerity.

We are not here merely as an educational institution, but we carry a great legacy and a great responsibility that stems from our ambitious vision of achieving “leadership and excellence in nursing education and scientific research at the local and international levels.” This vision is not just words, but a compass that guides all our efforts and drives us towards continuous development and advancement of the nursing profession.

To achieve this vision, we are committed to our noble mission of “preparing nursing cadres who are scientifically, technically, and ethically qualified, capable of providing comprehensive and safe nursing care, compete in the job market, and meet the needs of society through advanced educational programs, innovative scientific research, and effective community partnerships, in an environment that encourages learning, creativity, and commitment to comprehensive quality standards.”

To achieve this mission, efforts are combined across our specialized scientific branches, which include the basics of nursing, adult nursing, maternal and child health nursing, pediatric nursing, community health nursing, and psychiatric and mental health nursing. Each of these branches represents a fundamental pillar in building the integrated nursing knowledge that we are proud to offer.

This mission sets clear and specific goals that we work to achieve day after day, namely

Developing our educational programs: We constantly strive to update our curricula to keep pace with the latest scientific and technological developments in the field of healthcare and nursing.
Promoting scientific research: We encourage our students and professors to conduct applied scientific research that contributes to solving health problems and raising the level of nursing services in Iraq.
Serving the community: We believe that our role is not limited to the walls of the college, but extends to serving the community by strengthening partnerships with health institutions and providing consultations and awareness programs.
Providing a stimulating educational environment: We work to create an academic environment that supports creativity and excellence, refines our students’ skills, and develops their professional personalities.
Achieving academic accreditation: Our commitment to the highest quality standards is our path to national and international accreditation, which enhances the standing of our graduates and our college.
My dear students,

You are the essence of our work and the beating heart of our college. Upon graduation, you will hold a bachelor’s degree in nursing and earn the title of “university nurse,” which is not just a job title, but a trust and a responsibility. You will be leaders of healthcare teams in hospitals and health centers, providing direct care to patients and contributing to the health education of your community. The nursing profession is one of humanity and compassion before it is one of science and skill. I call on you to be the best ambassadors for this noble profession and to arm yourselves with knowledge and ethics to become the future leaders in healthcare.

In conclusion, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to each and every one of you, professors, staff, and students, for your dedicated efforts. Hand in hand, we will continue our journey of giving and excellence, and we will work together to achieve the vision, mission, and goals of our college, so that we may always remain at the forefront.

May God guide us all to serve our science and our country.

Peace be upon you and God’s mercy and blessings.
