The Faculty of Nursing at Baghdad University discussed the master’s thesis tagged) The Effectiveness of Motivational Interviewing in Improving Health-Promoting lifestyle in Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis (for the student Rasoul Abd al-Zahra Munkhi.
The aim of the study is to determine the role of MI in improving the health status of patients undergoing hemodialysis.
The letter also included the thesis to that at the end of this study there was a significant effect of MI on health promotion of patients of experimental group at P < .000, while no difference appeared on the control group who did not receive the MI. As well as, the weight gain of the experimental group patients decreased after applying MI program, furthermore the level of potassium, urea, and creatinine significantly decreased at (P= 000) as (4.82 ± 5.35 mEq/L, 79.8 ± 23.2 mg/dl, 4.53 ± 23.2mg/dl) respectively. The study Concluded was the program of MI has a positive effect on health status in patients undergoing hemodialysis by enhance the patients’ adherence to medical instructions and treatment.
The most important recommendations reached by the study: applying programs of MI on common chronic disease in Iraq especially on patients with hemodialysis, and the estimate that the researcher got privilege.
