The Faculty of Nursing at Baghdad University discussed the doctoral thesis  tagged) Impact of Patients’ Adherence to Directly Observed Treatment Short-Course (DOTS) Strategy upon Tuberculosis Disease Complications in Amara City  (for the studentSaad Sabri Shamkh.

 

The aim of the study is to determine the impact of patients’ adherence to DOTS strategy upon tuberculosis disease complications.

The letter also included the thesis to indicate that the statistically significant impact of patients’ adherence to DOTS strategy upon tuberculosis disease complications, when analyze by Regression, and t-test, this impact appears on all items (complications) except (pulmonary fibrosis, respiratory failure, bronchial stenosis, weakness of the nervous system, epileptic seizures, numbness of extremities, meningitis, osteitis, arthritis, pathological fractures, osteoporosis, lymph node calcification, optic neuropathy) at a p-value ≤ 0.05. The study concludes that some tuberculosis disease complications were weakly affected by patients’ adherence to DOTS strategy, this might be related to other factors such as physiological factors, immunological factors, age, nutritional status, and health condition.

 

The most important recommendations reached by the study: necessary to do health educational programs to increase health awareness among peoples who are visit the  special health centers for tuberculosis disease, as well as the use of mass  media by the health authorities , And the estimate that the researcher got privilege.
