The Department of Nursing Fundamentals at the College of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized the two visits under the supervision and guidance of the department’s faculty members: Assistant Professor Dr. Iyad Majid Musa, Assistant Professor Dr. Aqil Habib Jassim, Assistant Professor Dr. Tahseen Rajab Muhammad, Professor Dr. Raja Ibrahim Abdul, Lecturer Dr. Ali Hussein Alaq, Lecturer Sama Amer Naji, and University Nurse Hussein Hassan Hamid and University Nurse Nasim Hadi Kamel

This academic initiative aimed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the role of nursing leaders in nursing management and to hone their skills in making critical decisions related to nursing care. It also sought to familiarize them with the latest trends in medicine and nursing, as well as the importance of rapid intervention to save the lives of patients and avoid potential complications.

The program for the two visits included an exploratory field tour of vital departments in the hospital, starting with the Emergency Department in the Internal Medicine and Surgery Division—which serves as the first line of response for critical cases—and continuing through the Internal Medicine and Surgery departments. This tour provided students with the opportunity to observe the workflow in these departments and interact directly with the medical and nursing staff.

This initiative is part of a series of field visits planned by the Department of Nursing Fundamentals, aimed at enhancing students’ theoretical and practical competencies in the field of nursing fundamentals. Through these visits, the college aims to empower students and equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to accurately distinguish between various medical conditions, make proper diagnoses, and provide the best medical and nursing interventions to preserve patients’ lives and minimize complications that could lead to a deterioration in their health. This visit contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 4 on quality education.
