The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Nursing, University of Baghdad, organized a specialized workshop titled “Deep Breathing and Relaxation Exercises and Their Impact on Improving Public Health and Reducing Stress,” presented by Prof. Dr. Hawra Hussein Gafel in the Continuing Education Hall, attended by a group of faculty members interested in promoting healthy lifestyles. The workshop focused on introducing the concept of deep breathing as a vital tool for supporting physical and mental health, and explaining the negative effects of stress and psychological strain on various bodily functions, while providing practical training to participants on relaxation techniques that contribute to improving the quality of daily life.
The workshop included a practical component to enable attendees to master proper breathing exercises that help calm the nervous system and reduce stress levels, The workshop concluded with a set of recommendations emphasizing the need to adopt these exercises as an essential part of individuals’ daily health practices, and the importance of raising community awareness about stress management mechanisms as a cornerstone for maintaining public health and preventing stress-related illnesses.
This event was organized as part of a series of activities by the College’s Continuing Education Unit aimed at developing the health and scientific skills of the academic community, thereby actively contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 on good health and well-being, by promoting psychological and physical well-being and providing practical solutions to cope with the pressures of life and work.
