The College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop titled “Environmental Pollution” on the virtual platform Google Meet , attended by a number of faculty members and undergraduate and graduate students.
The workshop aimed to identify types of pollution and its effects on human health.
It also covered several key topics, including identifying types of environmental pollution and their impact on human health, as well as methods to prevent pollution and its resulting complications.
During the workshop, the researcher called for raising environmental awareness among people, emphasizing that environmental pollution is a disaster requiring positive efforts from everyone, as it portends the extinction of humanity. He also advocated for relocating environmentally polluting industries away from human settlements according to a specific timeline. Developing methods to combat air pollution is essential, as the solution does not lie in simply increasing the height of smokestacks—this does not prevent pollution but merely disperses it to more distant locations. Additionally, methods for disposing of garbage and waste must be improved, particularly for processes involving open-air burning, which exacerbate pollution.
