The Women’s Affairs Unit at the Faculty of Nursing, in collaboration with the Women’s Affairs Unit at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls at the University of Baghdad, organized a scientific seminar entitled “Developing Women’s Self-Protection and Emergency Response Skills,” presented by Prof. Dr. Intisar Muzaffar Oda and Prof. Dr. Suzan Ibrahim Ali, at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls.

The seminar focused on vital topics related to situations that women may face in their daily lives, whether at home, at work, or on public transportation, and how to defend oneself and be optimally prepared to deal with emergencies, with an explanation of the proper ways to protect oneself and one’s family. The presentation also included a review of the necessary first aid steps to take in the event of sudden injuries.

The seminar witnessed remarkable interaction from the participating students, who enriched the topics with their opinions and contributions. In conclusion, the Dean of the College praised the efforts of those responsible for this activity, expressing her thanks and appreciation for such initiatives that contribute to raising awareness and enhancing the ability of female students to protect themselves.

This seminar embodies the college’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 5 on gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls by strengthening their self-protection capabilities, and Goal 3, which is good health and well-being, by raising awareness of first aid and immediate response to emergencies, thereby strengthening the role of academic institutions in creating a safe and sustainable environment for women.
