First: Introduction

The Faculty of Nursing seeks to raise the level of the nursing profession by making tangible changes in teaching methods, organizing continuing education activities, creating channels for cooperation and coordination with beneficiaries and local and international organizations, and initiating the promotion of cultural exchange with Arab universities to send faculty members for the purposes of exchanging expertise and attend conferences, conduct scientific research, participate in local advisory committees, and seek to provide scientific resources without any financial burden on the state. We must also mention the continued support of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Minister of Health, and the President of the University of Baghdad in providing the necessary supplies related to the educational and pedagogical process.

Second: Admission Requirements

The Faculty of Nursing at the University of Baghdad works diligently and persistently to prepare nursing staff who possess the scientific qualifications to work in the sector (public and private) and have the ability to provide comprehensive nursing care: preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative for individuals, families, and society. This is achieved through academic programs that are consistent with the University of Baghdad’s mission to prepare graduates who are capable of taking responsibility for building and developing Iraqi society, and to prepare students who are competent and skilled in various nursing procedures to provide nursing services based on scientific and practical foundations, and to prepare graduates with high scientific and practical in nursing specializations. 

Third: Learning Outcomes

  • • Preparing graduates with high scientific and practical skills in nursing and medical sciences.
    • Developing students’ academic and research skills, both scientifically and practically.
    • Contribute to community service by organizing lectures and seminars aimed at raising the health awareness of community members.
    • Preparing, qualifying, and graduating highly qualified national talents in various nursing and medical specialties.
    • Developing students’ behaviors so that they can demonstrate good professional conduct when dealing with patients and their families, as well as with members of the medical team.
    • Developing graduates’ cognitive and practical skills.

 

IV. Learning Outcomes for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program

Upon completion of the educational program at the College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad, graduates will be able to:
1. Employ the nursing process as the basis for nursing care.
2. Demonstrate caring behavior with patients, families, groups, and the community as a whole through the effective use of communication skills.
3. Apply advanced knowledge and skills to care for patients with various health problems.
4. Relate nursing theories to nursing practice.
5. Maintain patient safety based on evidence-based practice.
6. Develop students’ abilities to follow scientific steps in providing nursing care.
7. Improve nursing students’ knowledge and practices in preventing and identifying factors that spread infectious diseases in healthcare settings.
8. Enable students to understand nursing theories and principles and apply them when providing nursing care and managing nursing affairs.
