Baghdad University College of Nursing discussed a higher diploma thesis titled: “Evidence-based approach to nursing measures for patients with cardiogenic shock”. For the student Jawad Kazim Salman, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hakima Shaker Hassan, in the college’s Great Hall.
The thesis aimed to identify and promote evidence-based nursing practices that improve the management of cardiogenic shock, highlighting the pivotal role of nursing in increasing survival rates.
The study concluded that nursing interventions, including hemodynamic monitoring, timely administration of medications, and use of mechanical circulatory support, significantly impact patient outcomes.
The study made recommendations for the development and adoption of evidence-based national protocols for the management of cardiogenic shock in critical care units. It also emphasized the importance of expanding specialized training programs and nursing simulation to enhance clinical judgment, and stressed the integration of advanced decision support tools. This study is an important step towards establishing an evidence-based approach to critical care nursing in Iraq, and contributes directly to the achievement of SDG 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing) by improving cardiac care and reducing premature mortality, supporting efforts to ensure a healthy life for all.
